history

Coat of arms of South Vietnam

South Vietnam gained independence in 1954 and adopted a state coat of arms that featured a dragon in front of the flag image. In 1955 a new seal was introduced, which in 1957 became a national coat of arms and which consisted of a bamboo tree next to a brush and sword. From 1963 to 1976 they returned to the flag image.

On November 30, 1955, a state coat of arms in the Soviet style was laid down in North Vietnam . It shows the star from the national flag, a cogwheel and a rice wreath on a red background.

With the Vietnamese reunification on July 2, 1976, the coat of arms finally became the official coat of arms of Vietnam.
