Ernest Laszlo
Ernest Laszlo (born April 23, 1898 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary , † January 6, 1984 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles ) was a Hungarian-American cameraman.
Life
Ernest Laszlo emigrated to the United States in the 1920s . His first work as a cameraman was still in the silent film era . He was one of the cameramen in Wings by William A. Wellman in 1927 and in Hell's Angels by Howard Hughes in 1932. His most important work as a responsible cameraman, however, he created only since the 1950s with directors such as Robert Aldrich and Stanley Kramer . He was nominated eight times for an Oscar and won it for The Ship of Fools by Stanley Kramer in 1966. From 1972 to 1974 he was the President of the American Society of Cinematographers . His son Andrew Laszlo was also a cameraman.
Laszlo died in 1984 at the age of 85 at Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills .
