The current national coat of arms of the Republic of Korea was officially introduced in 1963.

The South Korean state emblem is not a coat of arms in the heraldic sense, but is referred to as the state emblem , but used like a modern coat of arms.

The Taegeuk ( Great Polarity ) is the circle that symbolizes Yin and Yang and also adorns the South Korean flag . The hibiscus ( mugunghwa , Hangeul : 무궁화) is the national flower of South Korea.
