Singapore coat of arms

The coat of arms of Singapore consists of a shield on which a lying white crescent moon and above it five white stars are shown in a circle arranged on a red field. The color red symbolizes the universal brotherhood and equality of people, white the immortal purity and virtue . The five white stars represent Singapore's ideals: democracy , peace , progress, justice and equality .

The shield is held on the right (heraldic) by a lion and on the left by a tiger . The lion represents Singapore and the tiger the historical connection with Malaysia . Under the sign is a blue banner bearing the motto of Singapore: Majulah Singapura (German: "Forward Singapore").
