The coat of arms of St. Helenas has been the official coat of arms of the entire present-day British overseas territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha as well as the sub-area of St. Helena since 2009 . Since January 30, 1984 it has been the official coat of arms of the island of St. Helena with secondary areas . The use of the coat of arms for commercial purposes for marketing St. Helenas is expressly permitted.
Ascension ( Ascensions coat of arms ) and Tristan da Cunha ( Tristan da Cunhas coat of arms ) also continue to have their own coats of arms and flags.
Heraldic shield
The heraldic shield shows under a golden shield head with an endemic St. Helena plover ( Charadrius sanctaehelenae ), in blue a black sailing ship with three golden masts with four white ruffled square sails on each mast and a white stern flag with a red cross waving. Two brown mountains in the right shield protrude from a natural water.
