The coat of arms of the People's Republic of the Congo used from 1969 to 1991

The coat of arms of the Republic of the Congo was introduced in 1960 and was initially valid until 1969. From 1969 to 1991 the coat of arms of the People's Republic of the Congo existed in its place. The emblem of the Republic of the Congo has been used again since 1991 .

The coat of arms is a golden shield with a central green wavy bar . A red, green armored and green tongued lion holds a red flickering torch .

As a sign holders are facing swept two black elephant on a red wooden beams from the shield half covered.

A golden crown with a green cap rests above the coat of arms . The crown prongs are stylized golden pieces of wood .

A golden banner hangs down over the bar with the motto of the Republic of the Congo: Unité, Travail, Progrès ( French for unity, work, progress).
