The coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea has been the official emblem of the state since August 21, 1979 .
description
The national coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea was introduced for independence and can also be found in the flag of Equatorial Guinea .
It shows a silver shield in which a silk wool tree is depicted.
Below the shield is a scroll on which the Spanish motto Equatorial Guinea is written:
- " Unidad, Paz, Justicia "
- ( Unity, peace, justice )
There are six six-pointed stars above the shield .
symbolism
Under a silk tree, also known as the tree of God, a king named Bonkaro is said to have signed a treaty with the Spaniards in 1843 and left this area to them.
According to other sources, it is a mangrove tree that is meant to indicate the importance of agriculture and forestry.
The coat of arms is based on the coat of arms of the city of Bata , the capital of Rio Munis .
The six gold stars represent the six parts of the state:
- the islands of Bioko , Corisco , Elobey Grande , Elobey Chico , Annobón
- and the mainland part of Mbini .
