Elobey Grande is an island off the coast of the West African state of Equatorial Guinea . It is located near the estuary of the Rio Muni . The island is only inhabited by a few people.
The smaller, now uninhabited neighboring island of Elobey Chico was the capital of the province of Rio Muni (now Mbini ) during the colonization by the Spanish .
