Elobey Chico (outdated Eloby ) is a 19 hectare , now uninhabited island directly off the coast of the West African state of Equatorial Guinea . The island is located near the mouth of the Muni River , less than 1,300 meters northeast of Elobey Grande Island .
Elobey Chico was inhabited during the Spanish colonial rule and was in fact the capital of the colonial province of Rio Muni (now Mbini ) on the African mainland .
