Coat of arms of Somalia

The coat of arms of Somalia was officially adopted on October 10, 1956.

description

In terms of motif, the coat of arms follows the flag of Somalia , which is dominated by a silver star.

The national coat of arms is blue with a golden shield border, topped with a five-pointed silver star, crowned by a five-pointed golden heather crown.

Coat of arms holders are two upright natural-colored leopards , their heads turned towards the shield, standing on two crossed black spears with blue leaves, braided with a silver ribbon, over both of which are crossed green palm fronds.

symbolism

The palm branches represent peace, the ribbon is only used for decorative purposes.

As a sign of sovereignty, a crown was placed on the shield .

history

The leopards already had the coat of arms of Italian Somaliland .
