The coat of arms of South Sudan since independence shows a fish eagle ( fishing eagle ) of a banner with the words Republic of South Sudan (Republic of South Sudan) and three other smaller with the individual components of the electoral award Justice (Justice), Liberty (Freedom) and Prosperity ( Prosperity). Weapons are shown in front of the eagle. The seal is outlined in blue. The name of the state and the motto can also be found on this blue background.
The previous seal was based on the coat of arms of Sudan . It showed a secretary bird and carried two Arabic script banners: the upper one showed the state motto of Sudan النصر لنا (an-naṣr lanā, dt .: The victory is ours), the lower one the state name of Sudan جمهورية السودان (āāumhūrīyat, dtūd. : Republic of Sudan). So there was a banner that read in English: Government of Southern Sudan (Eng .: Government of South Sudan).
