Réunion coat of arms

The Réunions coat of arms is the coat of arms of the French overseas department of Réunion . It shows a quartered shield.

  • Field one is divided into green and silver with waves by a thorn cut. Above three white mountains, the back one with rising ash rain and above the higher middle three capitals "M" in silver. The three "M" stand for the Roman number three thousand, the altitude of the highest mountain on the island.
  • Field two at the top split in blue and red and at the bottom divided by a thorn cut in silver with waves. At the cut lies a silver cog with three masts and silver billowing sails. The silver pennants on the masts and the silver rear flag waft to the right .
  • Field three shows three (2; 1) golden lilies in blue
  • in field four in red there are three rows of golden bees up over the edge of the shield.

On all of them there is a heart sign with the French colors and shows the entwined capital letters "R" and "F" for République française (French Republic) in the silver pole in gold.

The coat of arms designed by Laure Fernando was introduced in 1925 by Governor Merwart on the occasion of the 1925 colonial exhibition in Paris.
