A pennant is a small flag, usually triangular in shape. He usually does not have any sovereign symbols. As an integral part of a banner, it is called a swivel .

In the world's navies, pennants are used on the one hand as part of the extended (NATO) signal alphabet and on the other hand as part of the command signals.
