Linda Barla Ricci

Linda Barla Ricci , actually Ermelinda Barla , also Linda Barla Castelletti , (born January 13, 1896 in Ascoli Piceno , † after 1943) was an Italian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Linda Barla Ricci was born as Ermelinda Barla. She married Renato Ricci and then adopted the stage name by which she became known. The marriage resulted in a son, Francesco Ricci, on April 14, 1921, who later joined the partisan group " Stella Rossa Lupo ", became the political leader of Company 2a and died in the Marzabotto massacre .

On June 7, 1930, she married the merchant Aldo Castelletti in Budapest , with whom she and her family moved to Bozen on February 27, 1939 . On September 21, 1943 the family was arrested in Merano or Fondo and held in Merano prison until October 23, 1943. While Barla Ricci and the children were released or were able to flee, Aldo Castelletti was transported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp and killed there.

Her further curriculum vitae and the time and place of her death are unknown.

Artistic creation

Her activity as a singer began after the end of the First World War and ended in 1942. She appeared in several major opera houses in Italy, including in 1920 in the Arena of Verona , in 1922 at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza and in 1922 and 1935 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples . From 1920 to 1926 she appeared several times in the Teatro Politeama in Genoa , in 1924 she was seen in the Teatro Petruzelli in Bari and in 1925 in the Teatro La Fenice in Venice . In 1925 she made several appearances at the Italian Opera in Holland, followed by a tour of Germany with an Italian opera company.

In 1926 Barla Ricci appeared in the Teatro Massimo in Palermo , in 1927 in the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Teatro Argentina in Rome , in the Teatro Regio in Turin and in various roles at the Teatro Sociale in Mantua . In 1928 she sang again in Mantua and at the Opéra de Monaco .

For her brilliant role she developed the "Turandot" of the opera of the same name by Giacomo Puccini . Her repertoire also included the "Elena" in Mefistofele , the main role of " Aida " and "Desdemona" in Otello , the "Minni" in La fanciulla del West and the main role in Dejanice by Alfredo Catalani .
