Franz von Som

Franz von Som (born July 1, 1688 in Hamburg ; † October 31, 1766 there ) was a German lawyer and archivist .

Life

Som was a son of the Hamburg merchant Franz von Som and Maria de la Camp.

He attended the academic high school in Hamburg and then studied law at the University of Altdorf and the University of Orléans . At the last University, he received his doctorate in 1715 for Licentiate of rights.

After his studies Som returned to Hamburg and settled here as a lawyer . On November 13, 1724 he was elected archivist for the city. It was 1747, this proto notary offered, but Som refused and led his position as archivist from 1752 with a placed at his side adjuncts , until his death continues.

In 1750 traveled Som with the Senatssyndicus Johann Klefeker (1698-1775) and later mayor Lucas von Spreckelsen (1691-1751) to Kiel , where he completed the deposit and lending agreement with Holstein from. The city of Hamburg had lent money to Duke Karl Peter Ulrich von Holstein-Gottorf for 20 years and received parts of the offices in Reinbek and Trittau as pledge .
