Norman Mack Van Brocklin (* 15. March 1926 in Eagle Butte , South Dakota ; † 2. May 1983 in Social Circle , Georgia , nicknamed "The Dutchman") was an American American football players and coaches.

Norm Van Brocklin played from 1949 to 1958 as quarterback and punter for the then Los Angeles Rams and from 1958 to 1960 for the Philadelphia Eagles . Van Brocklin holds the record for the most yards thrown in a game with 554 yards to date (2018).

As a coach he was from 1961 to 1966 with the Minnesota Vikings and from 1968 to 1974 with the Atlanta Falcons . In 1971 Van Brocklin was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .

Van Brocklin was elected nine times to the Pro Bowl and four times to the All-Pro . He was twice (with different teams, which Peyton Manning succeeded in February 2016 after him ) champion of the NFL (1951, 1960) and was voted Most Valuable Player in 1960.
