James Stephen "Jim" Ringo (born November 21, 1931 in Orange County , New York , † November 19, 2007 in Chesapeake , Virginia ) was an American football player and coach and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame . He was selected for the Pro Bowl ten times during his career .

Career

As a player

Ringo played high school football at Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg , New Jersey . He later played at Syracuse University .

In 1953 he was committed in the Entry Draft by the Green Bay Packers , where he played for eleven years. Its above-average speed and technique made it one of the best centers of its time. With the Packers and played under four different coaches, the most successful time he had 1959-1963 under the fourth coach, Vince Lombardi . In the 1964 season he was given to the Philadelphia Eagles after 126 consecutive games , the reasons for this are unknown. Ringo retired from the Eagles after the 1967 season.

As a trainer

Ringo has worked as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Rams , Buffalo Bills , Chicago Bears , New England Patriots, and the New York Jets . In 1976 he worked as head coach for the Buffalo Bills and trained among others OJ Simpson .
