Herbert Allen Adderley (* 8. June 1939 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the cornerbacks . He played between 1961 and 1972 with the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL). He became three NFL champions with the Packers and won two Super Bowls with them . He won another Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys. In 1980 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .
Adderley was selected in the first round of the 1961 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers as the 12th player. He began his professional career as an offensive back and was retrained to cornerback by head coach Vince Lombardi at the end of his first season . In the new position, Adderley got 48 interceptions in twelve years , which he carried back for 1046 yards and scored seven touchdowns .
Before the time of the Super Bowl , Adderley won three NFL championships with the Green Bay Packers . In addition, he won the first two Super Bowls, also with the Packers. After the 1971 season , he won Super Bowl VI , this time with the Dallas Cowboys . In Super Bowl II he managed an interception. He then carried the ball back 60 yards for a touchdown. He was one of the top cornerbacks of the 1960s and was voted onto the NFL All-Decade Team of the 1960s for this reason . In addition to being a cornerback, he also played as a kickoff returner. In his 12-year career, he carried 120 kickoffs for 3,080 yards (25.7 yards per return) and two touchdowns. In his playing days, he weighed around 93 kg and was 1.83 m tall.
In 1980, Herb Adderley was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .
