Thomas Dorn "Tom" Stincic (born November 24, 1946 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is a retired American American football player . He played as a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL).

Player career

College career

Tom Stincic attended high school in his hometown . Because of his athletic achievements, he was inducted into his school's Hall of Fame in 2000 . From 1966 to 1968 he then studied at the University of Michigan , where he played as a linebacker and defensive end for Michigan Wolverines College Football . In the last two years of study he was elected to the selection team of the Big Ten Conference .

Professional career

Thomas Stincic was selected in the 1969 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys supervised by Tom Landry in the third round in 68th place. In the defense of the team, supervised by Ernie Stautner , the later members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Bob Lilly and Mel Renfro played . This part of the team went down in the history of the NFL as Doomsday Defense . Stincic was used as a substitute for Lee Roy Jordan on the position of linebacker.

After the 1970 regular season , Stincic was able to move into the Super Bowl with the Cowboys after a 17:10 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game . In Super Bowl V , however, the Baltimore Colts were able to prevail against the Stincic team with 16:13.

The following year, Roger Staubach took over the role of starting quarterback for the team from Texas . Tom Stincic and the Cowboys won Super Bowl VI this year after a 14: 3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game against the Miami Dolphins, trained by Don Shula , 24: 3.

After another playing year with the New Orleans Saints , he was given to the Houston Oilers . After a contract with the Oilers failed, Stincic ended his career.

After the career

Tom Stincic became a high school teacher after his career and taught history, among other things. He also coached the football school team. He now lives in Mesa , Arizona .
