Blaine Nye Francis (* 29. March 1946 in Ogden , Utah , USA ) is a former American American Football- players. He played mostly as a guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys .
Player career
College career
Blaine Nye attended high school in Anaheim , California , and then graduated from Stanford University . There he played for the Stanford Indians on the defensive line football .
Professional career
In 1968, Blaine Nye was drafted 130th by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round . The trainer of the Cowboys, Tom Landry , put him first in the defensive line supervised by Ernie Stautner .
In 1970 he was retrained as a guard and used alongside well-known players such as Rayfield Wright , Ralph Neely , John Niland and Harvey Martin in the offensive line of the team from Dallas . With his new player position, he was responsible for the protection of quarterback Roger Staubach , among other things . In 1971 he and his team won the NFC Championship Game at 17:10 against the San Francisco 49ers . His team failed but with 16:13 in Super Bowl V at the Baltimore Colts , which were trained by Don McCafferty .
In 1971 Blaine Nye won eleven of 14 games with the Cowboys in the regular season and thus moved into the play-offs . After a 14: 3 win over the San Francisco 49ers, his team managed a 24: 3 victory in Super Bowl VI against the Miami Dolphins, trained by Don Shula .
Under the leadership of Roger Staubach, Nye won his third NFC championship in 1975. 37: 7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams , however, in the NFC Championship Game was followed by a 21:17 defeat by Chuck Noll supervised Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl X . After the game year 1976, Nye ended his career.
Honors
Blaine Nye was inducted into his college 's Athletics Hall of Fame . He was voted All Pro three times and played twice in the Pro Bowl , the season-end game of the best players in a game round. In 1983 he was inducted into the Orange County Sports Hall of Fame .
After the career
Blaine Nye continued his studies at Stanford during his career , where he obtained, among other things, his Master of Business Administration . He founded his own company, in which he still works.
