A year after the first Super Bowl success, Dowler drew attention again. The regular season was as successful as usual for the Packers and they moved back into the play-offs . Opponents in the NFL final were again the Dallas Cowboys. The game would go down in NFL history as the so-called Ice Bowl . Despite the adverse circumstances, the game was played at −25 degrees Celsius, Dowler got two touchdowns in the narrow 21:17 victory of his team. The Super Bowl II was played against the Oakland Raiders . Dowler was also successful in that game, scoring his only touchdown in a Super Bowl. The Packers won the match 33:14.
