William Max McGee (born July 16, 1932 in Saxton City , Nevada , † October 20, 2007 in Deephaven , Minnesota ) was an American football player .

McGee began in Tulane at the College of Football . He played for the Green Bay Packers from 1954 to 1967. He scored the first touchdown in the first Super Bowl in the history of the National Football League in January 1967 in the 35:10 win of the Green Bay Packers under coach Vince Lombardi against the Kansas City Chiefs .

When his youngest son, Dallas, was diagnosed with diabetes , McGee founded the National Max McGee Research Center for Juvenile Diabetes in 1999 .

After his career, he worked as a radio reporter from 1979 to 1998 .

McGee died falling off the roof of his house trying to remove leaves from there. He was 75 years old. He leaves behind his wife Denise, four children and seven grandchildren.
