David "Dave" Wilcox (* 29. September 1942 in Ontario , Oregon ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He played for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven years . Wilcox was elected to the Pro Bowl seven times and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Dave Wilcox was born on September 29, 1942 in Ontario, Oregon. He grew up as one of eight children on a farm in Vale , near the Idaho border . He has two sons with his wife Merle. Both sons played college football for the University of Oregon . His son Josh Wilcox played two seasons as a tight end for the New Orleans Saints in the NFL, while Justin Wilcox continues to work as a coach in college football - including as defensive coordinator for the Trojans of the University of Southern California (USC). Dave's brother John Wilcox also played at the University of Oregon and later a year for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL.

Dave Wilcox first played college football for two years at Boise Junior College before going to college for the University of Oregon for the last two years . He played as a guard on offense and as a defensive end on defense . With Wilcox, the Oregon Ducks made their first appearance in a bowl game in 47 years. They won the Sun Bowl 21:14 against Southern Methodist University (SMU).
NFL
Wilcox was won by both the Houston Oilers of the fledgling American Football League (AFL) in the AFL Draft (6th round as 46th player) and the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) in the NFL Draft ( 3rd round as 29th player) selected. He signed a contract with the 49ers and played the next eleven years as a linebacker in the NFL, where he nicknamed himself The Intimidator ( The Intimidating acquired).
He played 153 NFL games, was elected seven times in the Pro Bowl , twice in the first team and twice in the second team as an All-Pro . In 2000 he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame .
