The castle Rainding is an Outbound medieval lowland castle of the type of a motte (moth) on flat meadowland in Rainding , in the municipality of Haarbach in the district of Passau in Bavaria . It is roughly dated to the Middle Ages , no findings from the fortification are known. The first known lord of the castle is an Alher von Roumtingen , he is mentioned in a document from the Vornbach monastery around 1125 . Only small remnants of the former moat have survived from the largely leveled complex . The place is protected as ground monument number D-2-7445-0026 "Largely leveled moated castle stables of the Middle Ages (" Rainding ")".

The castle site of the Wasserburg is located immediately north of the Catholic parish church of St. Michael in Rainding on flat meadow terrain that slopes only slightly to the north into the Wolfach valley. Today is from the Burgstall at 360  m above sea level. NN height only the strongly flattened tower hill and a surrounding depression of the former moat are preserved. In its eastern part, the basin used to be a pond.
