Pillham Castle was a castle in Pillham near Ruhstorf in the district of Passau . It was demolished in 1809 and replaced by a two-storey complex that was later used as the "Ering-Pillham Castle Brewery" and which now houses rental apartments. It is owned by the Esterházy family . The records of the castle begin in 1367. The Kleeberg Castle is in the immediate vicinity .

The first mention of a Pillham noble family comes from Menhard de Pillenhaim from the year 1160. Not until 1367 is there a documentary mention of the Haderer family. A Haderer Walchun named itself after the place Pillham. On January 8, 1370 Walchun von Pillham sold his goods to Lord Zacharias the Haderer. According to the "Landtafel des Duke Georg", widow Catherina Ecker was the owner of Pillham from 1486 to 1492. In 1568 Pillham was named in Apian's topography of Bavaria as the “seat of a noble rule”. At the end of the 16th century, Hofmark and castle came into the possession of the Rieder von Paar family . In 1703 it passed to the Barons von Paumgarten , who did not live in the castle.

In 1809 the castle was demolished. The reason given is that it happened in order to have to carry less quarters during the Napoleonic Wars .

The Pillham Castle estate had a floor area of ​​around 500  daily works with three wooded parcels of around 13 daily works near Pfarrkirchen as well as in Buchet and in Steinkart near Salvator. The Ering manor had its own administrator in Pillham. In addition, there was an inn, a forge and two larger farms in Pillham.
