location

history

Around 1140 "Meinhart et frater eius Chunrat de pillinhaim" are mentioned. The aristocratic seat is attested as Hofmark from the second half of the 14th century . From 1400 the Ekker appeared as Hofmark lords, who remained in the possession of the Hofmark until they died out in 1503. Further owners were later the Tißlinger, the Roß and from 1601 the Riederer zu Paar , who immediately called themselves Riederer zu Pillham and owned the Hofmark for a good century. In 1703 Johann Wigelaeus von Paar zu Pillham sold Pillham to Johann Joseph Franz von Paumgarten. The Counts of Paumgarten remained court lords until the 19th century.

In order to avoid the ongoing billeting by troops in the Napoleonic Wars, Count Paumgarten had Pillham Castle demolished in 1809. A two-story caretaker's house was built on the site of the castle. From the Hofmark the Patrimonial Court II. Class Pillham emerged, which was confirmed on July 30, 1821 and existed until 1848. Pillham is already part of the community of Ruhstorf in the municipality register from 1824. With the extinction of the Paumgarten family in the male line, Pillham married into the Barons von Lerchenfeld , who modernized and enlarged the brewery around 1870. In 1971 the brewery was sold to the Löwenbrauerei Passau , which it closed in 1977.
