Douglas O. Williams

Douglas O. Williams ( July 29, 1917 - January 31, 1993 ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Williams began his career in the film business in 1965 as a sound engineer for the musical adaptation of My Songs - My Dreams , albeit without any credits in the credits. In the same year he worked on the five Oscar nominated biography Michelangelo - Inferno and Ecstasy . After a few other musical films like Doctor Dolittle and Hello, Dolly! . In 1971 he and Don J. Bassman received the Oscar in the Best Sound category for Patton - Rebel in Uniform . His second Oscar nomination was in 1977 for Trans-America-Express , he was followed by nominations in 1978 for Am Wendpunkt and 1980 for The Rose , but he could not win another Oscar.

His last work in film was Arthur Hiller's drama Making Love in 1982. Williams died in 1993 at the age of 75.
