description

The now modern overbuilt castle site of the former moated castle is located around 770 meters southwest of the Catholic parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt in Rotthalmünster within the local limits of Dobl, on a slope that slopes only slightly to the north-northeast. The castle area in Dobl is located in the loop of Dobler Strasse and Am Goldberg.

The tower hill was surrounded by a wide, almost closed moat, only in the east does it run out into a meadow valley. The hill, which was artificially separated by the moat from the terrain rising to the west, was artificially raised and now houses houses. The moat was still filled with water until recently.

A few meters south-southeast of the former moat is the Zehntstadel of Dobl Castle, it dates from the Gothic period. The gable-facing building is two-story and has a steep gable roof , its corners were reinforced by buttresses.
