Haselbach Castle is a castle in Haselbach in the municipality of Tiefenbach in the district of Passau .

history

Haselbach lies between Tiefenbach and Ruderting . The castle and brewery complex is located roughly in the center of the village. The exact origin of today's castle is not known, the area probably came into the ownership of the von Hals family in 1207 .

Since the end of the 14th century, the Knights of Arrow sat at the castle. After their extinction in the male line, Johann Sigmund von Kading, who married the heir Afra, came into the possession of the rule in 1624. Since 1630, the Haselbach lordship has been given brewing rights , wilderness and hunting rights . During the Thirty Years War , the castle was ravaged by Swedish troops in 1633.

The reconstruction proceeded slowly and was not completed until 1725 under Johann Franz Martin von Kading. This essentially gave the castle its present shape. In 1748 the Kadinger family died out. The new owners became the Freiherrn von Seitz, after 1810 a baron von Schönbrunn zu Mattau got the castle through marriage.

In 1818 Haselbach Castle came into civil ownership and was converted into a brewery. In 1871 the plant passed into the hands of the Stockbauer family. The Haselbach Castle Brewery was taken over by the Löwen Brewery in Passau in 2001 .
