The Castle Aigen am Inn , and Prince Bishop's Castle Neuriedenburg called, is a former Prince Bishop Castle in Aigen am Inn in Passau . It now serves as a kindergarten .

history

The castle was built in 1704 as a caretaker's office. At the end of the 18th century, it was converted into a hunting lodge under the Passau prince-bishop Leopold Ernst Graf von Firmian . Partially burned down in 1810, the castle was then rebuilt. From 1860 it served as an institute for the English Misses with a girls' school. From 1893 the nuns also took over the supervision and management of the infant care facility. After the institute was closed in 1971, Pastor Josef Starnecker rebuilt the hunting lodge into today's kindergarten in 1976/77 .

Building description

The castle is a listed building (file number D-2-75-116-13). The description of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation reads:

"Two-storey hipped roof building with knee- high floor and rich plastered structure , built in 1704 as a caretaker's office , in 1775 converted into a hunting lodge with an additional storey, after a fire in 1810 the upper storey demolished, from 1860 institute of the English ladies, now kindergarten."
