Theobald Fritz

Theobald Johann Fritz (born May 29, 1771 in Schrattenthal in Lower Austria , † April 24, 1848 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic theologian and university professor.

Life

Theobald Fritz came on 21 September 1794 a novice in the Augustinian - Klosterneuburg Abbey and was completed by theological studies on August 31, 1800 for priests ordained. After the solemn profession on May 31, 1801, he was given the teaching post of moral and pastoral theology at the theological home school in Klosterneuburg Abbey. On November 16, 1810, he was appointed to the University of Vienna , where he taught moral theology until his death in 1848.

In 1830 he was appointed censor; As such he had to examine theological writings for their suitability for the episcopal imprimatur .

In 1835 he was awarded a doctorate by decree.

After the death of the regulated Lateran canon Theobald Fritz, his body was transferred to Klosterneuburg and buried there in the monastery crypt .
