Shane Patrick Henry Vereen (* 2. March 1989 in Valencia , California ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the New York Giants and the New England Patriots as a running back . With the latter he was able to win the Super Bowl XLIX .

college

Vereen attended the University of California, Berkeley and played for their team, the Golden Bears , three years of college football , scoring 35 touchdowns .

NFL

New England Patriots

In the 2011 NFL Draft , he was selected in the second round as the 56th player of the New England Patriots . If he was only used sporadically in his rookie season, he received significantly more playing time in the following years. Vereen also had a not inconsiderable share in winning the Super Bowl XLIX , where he started as a starter and got four runs for 13 yards and 12 pass catches for 63 yards.

New York Giants

In early March 2015, he signed a contract with the New York Giants. In three seasons he was able to achieve a total of five touchdowns.

New Orleans Saints

In July 2018, Vereen was signed by the New Orleans Saints , who wanted to strengthen their running back corps after Mark Ingram was suspended for four games. He sustained an injury during training and was released shortly before the start of the regular season .

Private

His brother Brock Vereen also played in the National Football League and was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft .
