Patrick Christopher Chung (born August 19, 1987 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican American football player in the National Football League who plays for the New England Patriots . His field position is that of Strong Safety .

After a promising career in college football at the University of Oregon , Chung was selected as the 34th player in New England's 2009 NFL Draft . Immediately he established himself as a regular player in his position and reached the Super Bowl XLVI against the New York Giants , which was lost 17:21 despite his performance (6 tackles ). In 2013 he moved to the Philadelphia Eagles , but could not prevail, so he came back to the Patriots in 2014. With them he became a regular player again and won the Super Bowl three times ( Super Bowl XLIX , Super Bowl LI , Super Bowl LIII ).

Chung is married to his wife Cecilia and they have one son. He comes from a musical family: his mother is the reggae singer Sophia George and his father Ronald Chung was her producer. He has four sisters and three brothers. Chung is a member of the Chinese minority in Jamaica.
