Dion Lewis (* 27. September 1990 in Albany , New York ) is an American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played for the Philadelphia Eagles , the Cleveland Browns , the Indianapolis Colts , the New England Patriots and the Tennessee Titans in the National Football League (NFL). He is currently under contract with the New York Giants .
college
Lewis visited in 2008 , the Blair Academy in New Jersey , without there to play football. He prepared for college there, before moving to the University of Pittsburgh in 2009 .
He then played from 2009 to 2010 as a running back in Pittsburgh and came in his two years there with 544 runs , 2,860 yards and 30 touchdowns . In addition, he caught 52 balls for 405 yards and made a touchdown.
NFL
Lewis was selected in the NFL Draft 2011 in the 5th round in 149th place overall by the Philadelphia Eagles and made his NFL debut for this.
Philadelphia Eagles
Lewis was mainly used as a return specialist with the Philadelphia Eagles and played in Philadelphia until the 2012 season . In those two years he made 702 yards in 32 kick returns .
On April 11, 2013, he was transferred to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Emmanuel Acho .
Cleveland Browns
Lewis had no luck in the 2013 season with the Cleveland Browns. He missed the entire season due to a fibular fracture .
He was released by the Browns on August 30, 2014.
Indianapolis Colts
Lewis was signed by the Indianapolis Colts on September 10, 2014 . However, he was released a few days later on September 16, 2014 because the Colts had to react to injuries and make room in the active squad.
Lewis didn't play a single game in the 2014 season .
New England Patriots
After Lewis had already signed a future contract with the New England Patriots on December 31, 2014 , he signed a two-year contract on October 8, 2015.
2015
Lewis made a very good impression with the Patriots in his first season in 2015 , running a total of 234 yards in 49 runs and two touchdowns. He was also a dangerous weapon in passing , catching 36 balls for 388 yards and two touchdowns. However, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the game against the Washington Redskins on November 8, 2015 and missed the rest of the season.
2016
Before the 2016 season, Lewis had to undergo a second knee operation and therefore missed the first nine games of the season. With his entry into the season on matchday 10, however, he was able to build on his good performance, even if he was spared a bit. He still got 283 yards in 64 runs and caught 17 balls for 94 yards.
By reaching the playoffs , Lewis was allowed to play his first playoff game of his NFL career in the Divisional Round against the Houston Texans . He set the record in the game for making three touchdowns in three different ways in an NFL playoff game: one by run, one trapped, and one return touchdown.
The Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI , and Lewis became Super Bowl champion for the first time . Lewis here had six running plays and gained 26 yards of space.
2017
Lewis played a solid regular season in the 2017 season and was able to establish himself as the starting player in the position of running back over the course of the season.
Tennessee Titans
On March 15, 2018, he signed a four-year contract with the Tennessee Titans for $ 20 million and an additional $ 3 million in bonuses. For the Titans, Lewis was used in all 16 regular season games in 2018 and 2019, but only played a minor role behind Derrick Henry . He was released from the Titans on March 12, 2020.
New York Giants
Shortly after his release from the Titans, Lewis agreed on a one-year contract with the New York Giants .
