Joshua Caleb "Josh" Gordon (born April 13, 1991 in Houston , Texas ) is an American American football player on the position of wide receiver . He played college football for Baylor University and was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft . After his release from the Browns, he was under contract with the New England Patriots . Most recently he played for the Seattle Seahawks .

Early years

Gordon was born in 1991 to Haitian parents in Houston , Texas . There he attended Lamar High School, where he also ran athletics in addition to football and won the Texas State Championships with the 4 × 100 and 4 × 200 m relay.

college

From 2009 Gordon played college football for Baylor University , especially in his sophomore year he was successful. In October 2010 he was temporarily suspended after he and his teammate Willie Jefferson were found marijuana . At the beginning of the new 2011 season, he was tested positive for drugs and thus permanently banned from college. He then moved to the University of Utah , where he did not play a game.

In his two active years in college, he caught 43 balls for 721 yards and managed 7 touchdowns .

NFL

In the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft , Gordon was selected in the second round by the Cleveland Browns , who waived their second round vote for the 2013 NFL Draft. There he signed a four-year contract for $ 5.3 million. In his first season, he caught 50 passes for 805 yards and scored five touchdowns. In the game against the Oakland Raiders , he got over 100 yards in one game.

For the 2013 season , Gordon was banned from the first two games for substance abuse. Despite playing only 14 of the 16 games, Gordon scored 1,646 yards out of 87 passes caught, more yards than any other player this season. With 261 yards in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars , he set a new franchise record. He was also the first player to score over 200 receiving yards in two consecutive games. Because of his achievements, he was nominated for the Pro Bowl 2014 .

Gordon 2016

He was banned for the entire 2014 season for driving under the influence of psychoactive substances , later the ban was reduced to 10 games. He played five games in which he failed to touchdown. For the last game of the season he was also banned for violating the team rules. In 2015 he was banned for the entire season for the same offense. After the year was up, Gordon requested his suspension be lifted, but was not allowed to do so after another positive drug test. In September 2016, he volunteered for treatment.

Gordon finally made his comeback in November 2017 when he played against the Los Angeles Chargers . On December 10th he managed another touchdown after almost four years. After focusing on his treatment in the preseason, Gordon returned to the team at the start of the season, where he scored a touchdown in the 21:21 draw with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. A few days later, the Browns separated for good from Gordon after a training incident and traded him with a seven-round pick for a five-round pick to the New England Patriots .

In the Patriots, Gordon scored 720 yards of space and three touchdowns in 11 games. After week 16, Gordon announced that he would be retiring from football indefinitely to "improve his mental health," and shortly thereafter, the NFL announced that it would be banned indefinitely.

Gordon's ban was lifted in August 2019.

After an injury, Gordon was first placed on the Injured Reserve List , after his recovery the Patriots placed him on the waiver list , so that Gordon could be signed by other teams. The Seattle Seahawks then signed Gordon.

At the Seahawks, he caught seven passes for 139 yards of space gain in five games before he was again suspended indefinitely for taking performance-enhancing agents.
