Team history

In 1931 a new stadium, the Cleveland Stadium , was opened in Cleveland . The stadium, which has a capacity of almost 80,000 people, wanted to use the NFL for itself and therefore placed a new franchise in Cleveland, the Indians. The league led the team itself, instead of finding an owner as usual. The Indians played their first game on September 13, 1931 against the Green Bay Packers , which they lost 0:26. On September 26, 1931, the Indians played their first home game, with 6-0 against the Brooklyn Dodgers also scored their first win. However, since the team received no local support, they did not return to the 1932 season. The backing was so bad that the home game against the Portsmouth Spartans on November 15, 1931 at Redland Field , Cincinnati was played.
