The Tonawanda Kardex Lumbermen were an American American football team from Tonawanda , New York . They played between 1916 and 1921, including for a game in the American Professional Football Association (APFA).

history

The team was founded by Walter "Tam" Rose , who also acted as head coach and halfback , as an all-Tonawanda team. a team of former college football players and local high school players. Shortly thereafter, the team was renamed Tonawanda Lumberman . After the team was able to achieve nine wins in ten games in 1920, they joined the professional league American Professional Football Association in 1921 , hoping to remain so successful, but to make more money by playing against better teams in larger cities, which is why they also do not play home games. To pay for the trips, the lumbermen looked for a sponsor, whom they found in American Kardex . Out of gratitude, the team unofficially called themselves Tonawanda Kardex Lumbermen . Their first game they played against an independent team from Syracuse , which ended in a pointless draw. On November 6, 1921, in front of 2,700 spectators, they made their APFA debut against the Rochester Jeffersons , which they beat twice the previous year. The Kardex lost the game with 0:45. After the game they could not find any opponents from the Jeffersons, but after the defeat they waived further games against the team from Rochester , which is why they ended the season with a record of zero wins and one loss. Therefore, they gave up the game operations, making them the shortest member of this league.
