Boston Yanks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Boston Yanks were an American football team that played in the National Football League (NFL).

Team history

The Boston Yanks were founded in Boston in 1944 . They played their home games at Fenway Park or the Manning Bowl . In 1945, the Yanks merged with the Brooklyn Tigers to form a gambling community. Due to the Second World War, there was an acute shortage of players in the NFL, which forced the two clubs to form this syndicate. In the same year, the Yanks managed to sign the eventual member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Ace Parker . Parker left the club after a year. In 1949, the Yanks stopped playing. The owner of the team had asked the NFL for permission to dissolve the club in order to establish a new team in New York City . After the NFL approved the project, the New York Bulldogs were founded there.
