Team history

In 1921 Frank Fausch founded the Crimson Giants with a number of other business people, with Fausch acting as president, general manager and head coach . He signed many players from the Evansville Ex-Collegians , a semi-professional team for which Fausch played in 1920, but also some foreign players. Their first game in the league still called APFA won the Crimson Giants on October 21, 1921 at home with 21-0 against the Louisville Brecks . In their first season fell due to bad weather and scheduling problems, half of the planned ten games against league teams, making the Crimson Giants loss. Fausch lost control of the team to the Committee of Five towards the end of the season , and regained control before the start of the next season. The committee consisted of five players around the ex-collegians Menzies Lindsey and Clarence Spiegel . They organized a game against the Indianapolis Independents , which could be won, but was a financial loss. In this one game, the Crimson Giants also lost one of their star players. Former Ohio State running back Herb Henderson suffered a career-ending knee injury in a collision, according to the Indianapolis players on purpose. After the season, however, most of the squad jumped off and joined other teams, which is why Fausch had to look for new players. However, due to little local popularity and poor performance on the field, the Crimson Giants became an all-away team in the 1922 season . After three games, the team was disbanded.
