John Anthony Randle (* 12. December 1967 in Hearne , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players. He played as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL).
Career
Randle grew up in modest circumstances and was therefore forced to work in his spare time in addition to his school and college education. He first attended Trinity Valley Community College before moving to Texas A&M University . From 1987 to 1990 he was able to win the conference title three times with his team. Randle graduated with a degree in sociology. The NFL scouts hadn't noticed him, however. In 1990 he therefore went to a training camp for the Minnesota Vikings and received a contract there. However, he did not get sufficient working time until 1991. It quickly became apparent that Randle was difficult to stop because of his speed and agility for the opposing attacking player on the way to quarterback . In his second year he was already very successful with 9.5 sacks and he was able to continuously increase this quota to 14.5 sacks in the regular season until 1994 .
In 2000, Randle joined the Seattle Seahawks , where he ended his career in 2003. Randle had scored 137.5 sacks in 219 games in the regular season, making him ninth on the all-time best list in the NFL (as of June 2018).
Honors
Randle has played in seven Pro Bowls and is a member of the National Football League's 1990s All-Decade Team , the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the College Football Hall of Fame .
Off the field
Randle's brother Irvin Randle played linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs . In 1997, The Sports Illustrated magazine named Randle one of the league's most unfair players.
