Carnell Lake Augustino (* 15. July 1967 in Salt Lake City , Utah ) is a former American American football poker players. He played on the defensive back position in the National Football League . He currently works as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers .

college

Lake played from 1985 to 1988 at the University of California at Los Angeles as a linebacker for the UCLA Bruins . He is still in the record books of his college today . He was able to bring down the opposing quarterback behind the target line 25.5 times ( sack ) and scored a total of 45.5 tackles , which led to the opponent losing space.

Professional career

In the 1989 NFL Draft , Lake was committed in the second round in 34th place by the Pittsburgh Steelers . Lake was retrained from the Steelers to a defensive back and played mostly as safety. The Steelers developed with him and other top performers like Greg Lloyd , Rod Woodson or Levon Kirkland to one of the best defensive ranks in the NFL. In 1995, the Steelers with head coach Bill Cowher were able to win the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts coached by Ted Marchibroda with 20:16 and thus moved into the Super Bowl , where they but in Super Bowl XXX against the quarterback Troy Aikman led and Barry Switzer trained Dallas Cowboys with 17:27 could not prevail.

In 1999, Lake joined the Jacksonville Jaguars for a year . The Jaguars gave him a four-year contract for $ 18 million. Honors

Lake played in five Pro Bowls , the final game of the season's best players. He is a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team . In 2007 he was nominated as a candidate for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame . However, he did not make it into the final selection.
