Reinhold Mathy (born April 12, 1962 in Memmingen ) is a former German soccer player who played in the Bundesliga for FC Bayern Munich and Bayer 05 Uerdingen .

Career

Mathy began playing soccer at FC Memmingen , the soccer club in his birthplace in the administrative district of Swabia , before moving to the youth department of FC Bayern Munich at the age of 17.

For the 1980/81 season he moved up to the professional squad, in which he played 100 Bundesliga games in seven seasons and scored 21 goals. He made his debut on October 18, 1980 (10th matchday) in a 3-1 win at home against VfL Bochum with a substitution in the 83rd minute for Norbert Janzon . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on April 11, 1981 (28th matchday) in the home game against MSV Duisburg with the goal to make it 5-1 in the 76th minute.

Furthermore, he played 15 times in the DFB Cup competition (including the final against Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1984 and against VfB Stuttgart in 1986 ) in which he scored five goals, and 14 times in the European Cup competitions in which he scored six goals.
