German amateur soccer champions in 1981 were the amateurs of 1. FC Cologne . In the final in Cologne's Franz Kremer Stadium, the hosts won 2-0 against FC St. Pauli .

Participating teams

With the introduction of the single-track 2nd Bundesliga for the 1981/82 season, there were no promoted players from the top leagues this year. As a result, all champions of the eight league seasons from the 1980/81 season took part in the competition for the German amateur championship.
