George V. Wulff
George (Yuri Victorovich) Wulff ( Russian Георгий (Юрий) Викторович Вульф , scientific. Transliteration Georgy (Yuri) Viktorovič Vul'f ; born June 10 . Jul / 22. June 1863 greg. In Nizhyn ( Russian Empire , now Ukraine ); † December 25, 1925 in Moscow ) was a Russian crystallographer. He became known for his contributions to geometric crystallography . On the basis of the theory of symmetry by Bravais and Fedorov , he developed a theory to predict which crystal faces form in equilibrium during crystal growth, or which crystal faces disappear first when they dissolve ( Wulff construction ). This too will Wulff'sche power back to him, a tool for entering and reading of angles in the stereographic projection .
