Yevgraf Stepanovich Fyodorov
Evgraf Fedorov ( Russian Евграф Степанович Фёдоров ., Scientific transliteration Evgraf Fedorov Stepanovič ; born December 10 . Jul / 22. December 1853 greg. In Orenburg ; † 21st May 1919 in Petrograd ) was a Russian mathematician, crystallographer and mineralogist. Parallel to (but methodologically largely independent) he derived the 230 crystallographic space groups from Arthur Moritz Schoenflies . Fjodorow invented the universal turntable in 1892 , an additional device for light microscopes that is used to analyze the geometrical and optical properties of minerals.
Honors
- The geological museum of the city of Krasnoturjinsk in the Sverdlovsk region was named after Fyodorov . Fyodorov himself founded it in 1894 when he worked as a mining engineer in the Turjinskije Rudniki (Turja mines) from 1894 to 1899. The museum was one of the first of its kind in Russia.

- On the premises of the international X-ray laser research facility European XFEL in Schenefeld near Hamburg, a street was named after him.
