Rainer Nicot

Rainer Nicot (born June 6, 1954 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Even if the defender only played a total of ten games with the 1. FC Köln professionals , he has remained loyal to the club for almost his entire career. Nicot already played for the Rhinelander in his youth. With the A-youth he became German champion in 1971 . After his youth he played for the amateur team of 1. FC Köln. Even in the seasons in which he was used with the professionals (1973/74, 1974/75, 1976/77 and 1977/78), he was considered an amateur player, which is proven by the fact that he was eleven times from the DFB was used in the amateur national team . There he played u. a. with the later national players Uli Stein , Hans-Peter Briegel , Matthias Herget , Hansi Müller and Karlheinz Förster . Nicot always remained active as a pure amateur. With the professionals, he only came into play when there was an emergency. In 1977 1. FC Köln won the DFB Cup, and Rainer Nicot also played his part, playing the semi-finals against Rot-Weiss Essen. In 1981, his loyalty to the second team of 1. FC Köln was rewarded by winning the German amateur championship .

At club level, Nicot has only played one international game: in the 1974/75 season in the semi-final second leg of the UEFA Cup against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

He let his career end in 1982 at SC Viktoria Köln in the Oberliga Nordrhein .

From 1999 Rainer Nicot worked for a number of years as a coach for the regional division SC Schwarz-Weiß Köln .
