Jesse Schultz (born September 28, 1982 in Strasbourg , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL since September 2017 .

Career

Jesse Schultz began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 1999 to 2003 for the Tri-City Americans , Prince Albert Raiders and Kelowna Rockets . In his final junior year, he won the Ed Chynoweth Cup , the championship of the WHL, with Kelowna . The winger played a major role in this success, as he was both top scorer and top scorer in the playoffs and was named WHL Playoff MVP . He was also elected to the WHL West First All-Star Team. After he had spent the 2003/04 season mainly as a regular with the Columbia Inferno from the ECHL , he played for their cooperation partner Manitoba Moose from the American Hockey League in the following three years . In the 2006/07 season he was also in his only two games in the National Hockey League for the Vancouver Canucks on the ice.

The 2007/08 season spent Schultz with the Chicago Wolves , with whom he won the Calder Cup . The following season he completed with their league rivals Houston Eros . For the 2009/10 season , the Canadian went to Europe for the first time, where he began the season at IF Björklöven in HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division, before finishing with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League . For the Franconians he scored four goals in 21 games and made another eight assists. In the playoffs he prepared another two goals in his four appearances. As a result, his contract was not extended, so he was without a club. It wasn't until October, when the Italian ice hockey championship had already started, that the Canadian signed a contract with SG Cortina from the A1 series . After the premature season out in Italy, he ended the current season at Rapid City Rush from the Central Hockey League , where he also spent the next season. The return to Italy followed. This time he signed with the newly promoted Milano Rossoblu . He left this after eight games with only four scorer points (two goals, two assists), and then stood on the ice for three seasons at Rapid City Rush. For the 2015/16 season he moved to the DEL2 for SC Riessersee .

Then his path led him via the Sheffield Steelers and the Hungarian Debreceni HK to the Slovak HC Nové Zámky , where he was only active for a short time. In September 2017 he returned to North America and joined the Cincinnati Cyclones from the ECHL, where he promptly became a top performer and averaged more than one scorer point per game in the following two seasons. In the 2018/19 season he even led the whole league in points (80) and was therefore awarded as ECHL Leading Scorer , while he was also honored as ECHL Most Valuable Player and appointed to the ECHL First All-Star Team .
