The Florida Seals were an American ice hockey team based in Orlando , Florida (from 2005 Kissimmee , Florida). The team was active in various professional leagues from 2002 to 2007.

history

The team was founded in 2002 under the name Orlando Seals as a franchise of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League . In this, they took first place after the regular season in their first season, for which they received the Commissioner's Cup and were awarded the President's Cup as champions in the playoffs. When the league was disbanded after just a year, the team joined the World Hockey Association 2 . This league was only active for one year, so the Seals joined the follow-up competition, the Southern Professional Hockey League . After disagreements with the arena management of the TD Waterhouse Center , the seals had to suspend the 2004/05 season and then moved to the Silver Spurs Arena . In addition, the team name was changed due to the changed stadium location in Florida Seals.

In the SPHL, the Florida Seals reached the final right away, but were subject to the Knoxville Ice Bears there . Due to financial problems, the franchise was withdrawn from gaming operations at the beginning of January 2007 and excluded from the league management.
