The St. Pete / Winston-Salem Parrots were an American ice hockey team from Winston-Salem , North Carolina (until relocation in November 2002 from Saint Petersburg , Florida ). The team played in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League in the 2002–03 season .

history

The team was founded in 2002 as a franchise for the first-ever Atlantic Coast Hockey League . The team initially played their home games in Saint Petersburg, Florida, but was relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in November 2002. In their only season, the Parrots finished fourth in the ACHL after the regular season. In the following playoffs they failed in round by a sweep in the best-of-five series at the Knoxville Ice Bears . When the league was dissolved after a year, the Parrots also stopped playing.

The void left by the Parrots in Winston-Salem was filled in 2003 by the Winston-Salem T-birds from the South East Hockey League .
