Jason Jaspers (born April 8, 1981 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Jaspers moved in 1998 from the Thunder Bay Kings to the Sudbury Wolves , a team from the Canadian professional junior league Ontario Hockey League . He played for the Wolves until 2001, in his last season in the OHL he made the jump to the OHL Second All Star Team and also won the OHL Plus / Minus Award . In the 1999 NHL Entry Draft , Jaspers was drawn in the third round at position 71 by the Phoenix Coyotes , for whom he completed his first three NHL missions the following season . Most of the time, however, he played with the Springfield Falcons , the then farm team of the Coyotes in the American Hockey League . This fact did not change in the following years, because Jaspers did not manage to get a regular place in the NHL squad. In 2004 he was on the ice for the last time in the highest North American professional league for this reason.
Due to a lack of prospects in North America, Jaspers was planning to continue his career in Germany at this time, but a transfer to Nuremberg failed, so he continued to play in the AHL. After the 2005/06 season, Jaspers then moved from the Falcons to the Adler Mannheim for one year , with whom he won the German championship in 2007 . His contract in Mannheim was extended to 2009.
For the 2009/10 season Jason Jaspers moved to the Kölner Haien, where he initially signed a one-year contract, which was then extended for two more seasons. In April 2012 he moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . In June 2015 he changes to the Iserlohn Roosters for the new season . After a strong season in Iserlohn, he extended his contract with the Roosters by a year and was named team captain after Mike York left .
After three years in Iserlohn, he took part in the preparation for the season with the Eisbären Berlin and received a one-year contract in September 2018. On October 10, 2018, he moved to the Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
